CEMML: On-Call Desert Tortoise Authorized Biologist

Edwards Air Force Base (EAFB), Kern County, CA

About the Opportunity

Multiple Desert Tortoise Natural Resource Specialist positions are available to be hired for an ongoing, multi-year project on Edwards Air Force Base (EAFB). Positions are hourly, as-needed, and expected to be less than 120 hours over the course of 9 months. This role will primarily support the Mojave Desert tortoise compliance and monitoring program on Edwards Air Force Base. Field work will be the primary duty for these positions. Work will consist of pre-and post-activity surveys for desert tortoise and their sign, communication with project proponents to ensure compliance with minimization measures, coordination with multiple parties to schedule surveys, post-field reporting and data entry. Support for other natural resource projects may occur as needed.

Mojave Desert Land Trust (MDLT): Joshua Tree Coalition Partnership Coordinator

About the Opportunity

As the Partnership Coordinator, you’ll serve as the coalition’s primary connector—helping the JTCC stay aligned, communicate clearly, and take collective action. You will report to MDLT and work closely with the coalition’s Steering Committee and Working Groups to facilitate planning, track progress, and ensure that member voices are heard and elevated. This role is flexible in structure: we are open to filling it either as a part-time employee or an independent contractor.

SNEI: Wildlife Biologists (Temporary, Full-Time, Multiple Positions)

Mojave Desert

About the Opportunity

SNEI, a 30-year-old Biological Consulting firm based out of Las Vegas NV, is seeking to hire temporary full-time field biologists for the 2025 Fall field season working throughout the Mojave Desert (primarily in southern Nevada and possibly southern California).

This position is slated to begin late August and will terminate at the end of October or early November. There is a possibility for a permanent position after the Fall season ends.

Upon hire and depending on the level of experience, the team member may attend a brief training program consisting of field and classroom training.

This position is primarily for performing desert tortoise surveys, but some of the additional duties to expect may include performing tortoise fence checks, avian surveys, sensitive plant or cacti/yucca or weed surveys, and construction monitoring. Pay rate is flexible depending on the level of relevant experience.
