Hotel Registration. We encourage our members to make their reservations at the Westward Look as soon as possible. In order for the DTC to receive a special event rate for the conference room, we need to fulfill our sleeping room contractual obligations. To reserve your room at the Westward Look, visit Westward Look Room Reservations Website or call the Hotel Reservation Department at 1-877-999-3223, which is open Monday through Friday between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. Mountain Standard Time. Callers must identify themselves as attendees of the Desert Tortoise to get the discounted rate. Room rates are $120.00/night. All rooms are subject to a room tax plus a resort fee per room/per night. The cutoff date for hotel reservations is January 28, 2018.
Registration for the 44th Annual Symposium is now open via our Wild Apricot portal. Early-bird registration rates are good through January 22, 2019 and will increase afterward. The registration fee includes 2 continental breakfasts (Friday and Saturday); 2 refreshment breaks; a mixer on Wednesday evening, sponsored by SNEI, that includes heavy hors d’oeurves; and on Friday evening a dinner buffet and no-host bar banquet. Please remember to renew your membership dues at this time to be eligible to receive the member registration rate.
When planning your travel for the annual Symposium, please note that the Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum is generously offering free admission to Symposium attendees and their guests on Sunday, February 24, 2019.
The hotel does not provide an airport shuttle. Estimates for ground transportation costs between the airport and hotel are as follows:
Lyft fare estimate: $25-$30 (one-way)
Uber fare estimate: $28 – $35 (one-way)
Stagecoach Express: $34 (one-way), $64 (round trip)

Raffle & Auction Donations
A raffle/auction is held at the Annual Symposium as a fundraiser so the Council can continue to expand its conservation efforts for the tortoise. All donations are tax-deductible to the full extent of the law. The DTC would like to encourage the donation of appropriate items in support of our fundraising efforts.

Cancellations & Refunds
- Cancellations must be received three weeks prior to the Symposium for a refund minus a $20 handling fee.
- Less than three weeks prior to the Symposium, 75% of the registration fees are forfeit.
- If the registrant sends a replacement under his/her registration less than three weeks prior to the Symposium, there will be a $20 extra handling charge.
Funds are available for students who are giving papers and require support for travel.
