The registration fee includes:
- 2 continental breakfasts (Saturday and Sunday);
- 2 refreshment breaks (Friday and Saturday);
- Friday evening mixer with carving stations, dessert bar and no-host bar; and
- Saturday night dinner buffet and no-host bar banquet with guest speaker
There is also a Meal Plan available for purchase for those that do not attend the General Session (spouses, vendors, etc.).

We are encouraging our members to make their reservations at the Excalibur (where the Symposium is being held). In order for the DTC to receive a special event rate for the conference room, we need to fulfill our sleeping room contractual obligations. To reserve your room at the Excalibur.
Room rates are $50.00/Thursday, $70/Friday, $90/Saturday. All rooms are subject to a room tax plus a daily resort fee ($35) per room. The cut off date for reservations is January 21, 2020.
Overnight parking is $10 per night at The Excalibur. When the guest checks in they should let the front desk know that they have a car. The hotel will charge the guest’s account and give them a key providing garage access at any MGM property in Las Vegas.
Please note, the hotel does not provide an airport shuttle.
Symposium Field Trip: February 20, 2020
Ivanpah Valley Head Start Facility
Join Dr. Tracey Tuberville, Dr.Kurt Buhlmann, and/or Dr. Brian Todd for a visit to the Ivanpah Valley Head Start Facility and to one of their field sites in Ivanpah Valley. Since our last visit to the facility in 2013 much work has been conducted and much has been learned to best return small desert tortoises to the wild.
GPS Logger Workshop: February 20, 2020
An Open-source Hardware GPS Data Logger for Wildlife Movement Studies
Attendees will learn how to assemble a GPS data logger through a guided exercise, and will be able to take home their creation. Sessions will include a brief lecture, basics of soldering tutorial (via a customized LED exercise), guided GPS unit construction, field testing, downloading and visualization of data, casing and attachment options, customization options, and future projects.

Raffle & Auction Donations
A raffle/auction is held at the Annual Symposium as a fundraiser so the Council can continue to expand its conservation efforts for the tortoise. All donations are tax-deductible to the full extent of the law. The DTC would like to encourage the donation of appropriate items in support of our fundraising efforts.
